Tantris, Munich –
An Icon through the Ages.

It began as an experiment – and became a milestone in top German culinary culture. With Tantris in Munich-Schwabing, building contractor Fritz Eichbauer fulfilled his dream of leading Germany into Haute Cuisine in 1971. International, visionary, and authentic simultaneously.

Even the ensemble‘s shape is fascinating. Designed by Swiss architect Justus Dahinden, the structure is an extravagant example of the futuristic architectural language of the early 1970s. The then bold restaurant concept obviously struck a chord at the time: As early as 1973, Chef Eckart Witzigmann cooked up the first Michelin star and, one year later, the second. His successors, Heinz Winklerand most recently Hans Haas, also left their mark here with their distinctive styles. Coupled with a fiery interior, it has become a place of aspiration in red and black for prominent guests and international gourmets. After half a century, then the turnaround, but always in the light of its genesis.

After a comprehensive yet stylish renovation, the „Tantris Maison Culinaire“ is also an overall success in terms of atmosphere. After robatherm had supplied the air handling technology of the first hour, the expertise from Jettingen-Scheppach is again applied in the new Tantris.

Result of Respectful Renewal.

Since the landmarked building did not permit any structural changes, ten new AHUs had to be installed in the space available. This was achieved through clever planning and partially reusing the old, durable robatherm casings.

Extra low-noise equipment was installed on the roof because of the nearby outdoor areas. The high-performance run-around coil system for heat recovery vanished into the existing technical rooms. robatherm pre-installed many elements to minimize effort on site. You can‘t see or hearanything, but you can feel the rejuvenation.

The reinvention already became a success story: Only a few months after its reopening, the Guide Michelin awarded two stars to the „Tantris Restaurant“, and one to the „Tantris DNA“. Thus, Munich has become richer through a trend-setting highlight.
