Le Biotope, Lille –
An impressive example of sustainable construction in the
middle of Lille.
In the heart of the crucial European business district of Euralille, LeBiotope defines the city‘s skyline. Today, not only is it the quarters of the “European Metropolis of Lille” [Métropole Européenne de Lille], a pioneering landmark that promotes a sense of well-being for its residents through healthy indoor climates, and at the same time as it has demonstrated a positive energy footprint.
LeBiotope is living up to its name: After 19 months of construction, an imposing building has been created. LeBiotope from above: A green oasis in the middle of Lille featuring a soothing retreat surrounded by some 750 trees and shrubs on its vertically offset roof surfaces.
The fact that LeBiotope is an impressive example of sustainable construction is also demonstrated by the awards received from renowned certifications such as BREEAM, WELL, BiodiverCity, E+C and WiredScore.
robatherm equipped LeBiotope with state-of-the-art air handling technology. A total of 39 AHUs achieve excellent air quality coupled with optimum energy performance. Their capacity includes a total air volume of 195,650 m³ per hour.
Since the building‘s rooftops are extensively vegetated, most AHUs are located in mechanical rooms. This is where one of the robatherm units‘ strengths comes into its own to great advantage: Their flexibility makes it possible to keep the use of space to a minimum for ventilation and air-conditioning systems in the building.
