ThyssenKrupp Test Tower, Rottweil –
A Tower of Superlatives.
At the height of 246 meters, the ThyssenKrupp test tower in Rottweil is one of the most significant buildings in Germany as well as one of the world’s tallest buildings with a textile-covered facade. ThyssenKrupp uses the test tower for the testing and certification of high-speed elevators. One unique feature is a concrete pendulum found inside the tower at the height of 200 meters. With the help of this pendulum, the tower can be set in motion, enabling the development engineers to simulate real wind or seismic strains.
The waste heat, given off by the components installed in the tower, is stored in a heat storage units within the test tower and transported via heat exchangers to the rooms requiring warmth. In combination with 3 AHUs by robatherm, this leads to efficient air conditioning of the test tower, whether in the entrance area or at lofty heights.
